Using Web Bulletins in Carousel Cloud as well as Google Slides Publish to Web functionality, You can now easily display Google Slides Presentations in Carousel Cloud!
Important Note: This workflow is not supported for Apple TV Media players. They lack an internal web browser and will default to displaying only the first slide in the presentation for the entire dwell time duration.
First, you will need to share your Google Slides Presentation and adjust its share settings.
Open the presentation you would like to display in Carousel, then click on the Share button in the upper right hand corner:
Click within the Get Link box, then adjust the settings so that Anyone with the link can view it, then select Done.
Next, you will select the File drop down menu and select Publish to the web.
Then, you will select how long you would like each slide to display. Depending on your content, we have found around 10 seconds to be a nice average but choose however long you’d like. You must also check the box to Start the slideshow when the player loads.
Select EMBED as the type and check the box to Start slideshow as soon as the player loads.
Copy the URL from within the Embed code (as pictured above). This is the URL you will use in Carousel Cloud.
Next, let’s create a Web Bulletin in Carousel Cloud.
Log into your Carousel Cloud account and select New Bulletin > Dynamic > Web
Paste the URL you generated in Google Slides into the provided field.
Then schedule your bulletin, move to the extras tab, and locate for the Let the system decide dwell time setting. Change the setting to NO
The dwell time you will enter here depends on how many slides are in your presentation, and the pacing you set in Google Slides. For this example, I set a pacing of 10 seconds in my Google Slides presentation and I have 5 slides in the presentation so I entered in a 50 second dwell time for this bulletin. This tells Carousel when to transition away to other bulletin content in the zone. It can always be tweaked afterwards if necessary.
Then simply publish your bulletin!
Content that is modified in the Google Slides presentation will now automatically update in Carousel for as long as it is published.
