This article assumes some previous knowledge of basic Carousel Cloud concepts like Channels, Zones, and Bulletins. Please check out our Carousel Academy training for more in-depth learning!
You can use full screen alerts to take over the whole screen on a Carousel Cloud channel or alert bulletins for a single zone. Both of these can be scheduled and triggered.
If you’re looking to integrate the following alerts into a CAP system, please follow this article for more information.
Full Screen Alert
-
Create a new Full Screen Alert Zone from the top-right menu Configure > Zones > New. Use the Zone Type dropdown and select Full Screen Alert.
Enter a name for the zone and add any tags. Also, make sure to set your resolution to be the full size of the channel it will be used on (usually 1920x1080 for HD or 3840x2160 for 4k).
-
Hit Save at the top
-
Next, you’ll want to subscribe a channel (or several channels) to this zone. Use the top-right menu Configure > Channels > Edit your desired Channel.
-
Once you’re on the channel editing screen, go to Settings to modify the Full Screen Alert Subscriptions
If you have more than one subscription in this list, you can drag and drop them to arrange the order of importance. This means that you can put the most important alert zone (maybe for campus-wide messages or corporate alerts) over another one based on alert priority.
-
Next, create or schedule a bulletin in the Full Screen Alert zone. Go back to the main menu (top-left), and use the zone selector to select the Full Screen Alert zone you’ve created.
-
Create a new alert, configure your message, and click Publish!
The channel subscribed to this Full Screen Alert zone will only display this bulletin until it is deleted or the schedule for the bulletin is changed so it’s no longer active
Alert Bulletins
-
Most bulletins can be made into an alert by toggling Is this an alert? in the Extras tab when editing a bulletin
-
After you click Publish, the zone will change to Alert Mode
The alert bulletin that’s scheduled will take over your zone until it’s no longer active or it’s manually disabled
-
You can have multiple alert bulletins active simultaneously
