Manual Carousel Cloud Player App Setup
If you are not using a separate Apple MDM system to set up your Macs, (e.g. Jamf, Mosyle, Moki, or Filewave) the first thing you will need to do is install the Carousel Cloud Player app manually on your Mac
-
Install the Carousel Cloud Player app manually:
Open the App Store app on the Mac
Search for Carousel Cloud Player
Select the Carousel Cloud Player app and choose Get
After the Carousel Cloud Player app has been installed and you open the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the player activation code (as shown below) in the Carousel Cloud web interface to allow the Mac to activate and communicate with your Carousel Cloud system
-
Lastly, you will need to activate the Mac as either a dedicated or express player in Carousel Cloud. Dedicated vs express player differences are explained in more detail in this article.
To complete player activation, you can follow the steps under the heading Player Activation in this Carousel Cloud article
Once the Mac is activated in Carousel Cloud, the selected Mac will begin to display your default cloud channel or the channel you specify during the activation process
Managed Carousel Cloud Player App Setup
In your Apple MDM, most easily achieved by using a VPP token for bulk app purchasing, obtain enough licenses for the Carousel Cloud Player app to cover the number of intended Apple devices you want to set up in Carousel Cloud. Since the app is free, getting a few more licenses over your expected use limit is best practice to help prevent delays in device deployment.
-
Using your Apple MDM, you will next need to deploy the Carousel Cloud Player app to your Macs
If you use Jamf and you'd like to fully automate player activation, the channel to display, and player tags, you can follow the additional instructions posted in this Carousel Cloud article
If you use a different Apple MDM and you’d like to fully automate player activation, the channel to display, and player tags, you can follow the additional instructions posted in this Carousel Cloud article
After installing the Carousel Cloud Player app (if you’re not automating the deployment and also activation as noted above) and you open the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the player activation code (as shown below) in the Carousel Cloud web interface to allow the Mac to activate and communicate with your Carousel Cloud system
