Carousel Cloud has the ability to integrate with exchange calendars to read and display events. Many people find this feature useful for a variety signage applications.
Please note: The underlying technology required for this workflow relies on Microsoft basic/legacy authentication which they plan to EOL in the future. Click here for EOL information about this protocol.
Alternatively, you can use the steps in this article to use an iCal feed from Office 365.
1. Create an external authorization in Carousel
Start by creating an exchange authorization in Carousel. This step links Carousel and your Office 365 account and gives Carousel permission to securely access information.
Click the settings icon next to your username and select Configure
If the Configure option is not available, you will need to contact your Carousel administrator to assist you with setting up the authorization.
In the configuration menu, select System
Select External Authentication from the menu on the left, then select New
Select the authorization type from the drop-down menu and set it to Microsoft Exchange, then name the authorization.
The Office 365 Exchange Server URL is:
Enter in your Exchange Server URL Username, Password, and a user impersonation address (if applicable). Then select save. If that works, proceed to Step 2.
If you receive an error, that might mean your organization enforces Multi-Factor Authorization and you may need to create an App Password in your Office 365 account to use with Carousel. Office365 needs to have Legacy Authentications enabled to allow the connection, if using Multi-Factor Authorization.
Please consult with your Office 365 admin to ensure you are in compliance with your organizations policies
In your Office 365 account settings, select Security and Privacy, then select Additional security verification, then select Create and manage app passwords.
Create a new App Password and name it something like Carousel to make it easy to identify. Copy the uniquely generated password and select save. Now you may use this app password in Carousel to authenticate your account.
2. Setting up an Event Schedule bulletin in Carousel
Once you have successfully authorized Carousel to use Office365 as a data source, you can use it in a bulletin.
Select New bulletin, then select the Dynamic bulletin type. Select one of the three different Event Schedule Bulletin types.
Select Microsoft Exchange from the Schedule Source drop down menu and choose your Authentication and Calendar to start pulling event data from Office 365!
