Web and Interactive Bulletins in Carousel Cloud

Web and interactive bulletins allow you to display website content on your players connected to Carousel Cloud.

Web Bulletins

• Media players that are capable of loading the website live (directly on the player itself) will first try to load the website live, but it is possible that a player may not be able to load the site directly due to an issue with the web browser, a bug in the operating system, or the inability of the player to reach the website from your network.

  • As a backup in case the player can’t load the website live, and to include support for players that do not have an internal web browser, Carousel Cloud will attempt to take a ‘snapshot’ (screenshot) of the website that will be sent to the player

  • The snapshot will automatically refresh once every 15 minutes

  • In the web bulletin editor, you can use the Snapshot Delay function to give the website time to load before Carousel Cloud attempts to capture a snapshot of the website

    

• In the event that the website is unreachable directly on the media player and also by Carousel Cloud, the web bulletin will be skipped during playback.

Interactive bulletins

• Interactive bulletins allow you to show an interactive website, made for touch-screen kiosks and wayfinding maps.

• This bulletin type also provides an ‘Inactivity Timeout' option in the bulletin editor. When the bulletin reaches the inactivity timeout threshold, which is the number of seconds since a user last interacted with the interactive bulletin on a player, the media player will refresh the website, returning it to the URL you’ve set in the bulletin editor.

Additional Notes

• The website you display will be in the resolution of the zone that it resides in. Very 'large' websites in small zones will be visually cut off.

• If the media player you are using has a web browser but limited hardware capabilities, it may have trouble displaying websites with a lot of animation or websites that are more taxing on the hardware.

• Every website is different, so we can’t guarantee that any one site will display as desired on a given media player. Below you will find a matrix of supported media players and their expected behavior when using web and interactive bulletins.
