Additional Notes

Constraints for Limited Players

Due to limited hardware processing capabilities on these types of players, the following constraints will apply:

Heavy Video Content

  • Using videos in any form, as explained below, may result in the videos not running well or at all on these players

    • Videos with a long runtime (large file size)

    • Videos with a high resolution (requiring multiple or more capable video decoders)

    • Carousel Cloud channels that run primarily video content (which consistently pushes lower-powered players to their maximum processing capacity limit)

Web and Interactive Bulletins

  • While we don’t prevent you from attempting to use either bulletin type on a player with limited support, technical support is unavailable for any player in this category that is not correctly displaying web or interactive bulletins

Power BI Bulletins

  • Live Power BI content may not work, depending on the complexity of the Power BI content you are using

  • An alternative for displaying live Power BI content that is not working well is to instead use the snapshot function in the Power BI bulletin editor

YouTube Bulletins

  • YouTube videos may not work depending on the specific YouTube videos you are using

Carousel Cloud Content Switching

  • The content switching actions explained below will be slower on these players

    • Changing assigned Carousel Cloud channels

    • Displaying full-screen alerts

    • Transitioning between bulletins

Rotated Video Playback Information

  • Portrait mode HDMI video output, when also using portrait mode uploaded video content, does not work as expected

  • A workaround for this behavior is to export the video rotated in the opposite direction of the configured player output setting in Carousel Cloud

    • For example: If you have set the BrightSign player content rotation to portrait clockwise in Carousel Cloud, you can upload your video content rotated counterclockwise to produce the correct output
