Configuring Jamf Now and Carousel Cloud

  • Updated

This guide will explain how to configure the Carousel Cloud Player app deployment in your Jamf Now system, including setting up Single App Mode, with Carousel Cloud.

Prerequisites

This documentation assumes you have Jamf Now, an Apple Volume Purchasing Program account, and devices available in Automated MDM Enrollment.

  • It is recommended that your Apple devices are running the latest OS version

Volume Purchase App via Apple Manager

  1. Open the App Store:

    1. Apple Business Manager: https://business.apple.com/

    2. Apple School Manager: https://school.apple.com/

  2. Click on Apps & Books

  3. Search in the left column for Carousel Cloud Player

  4. The best practice for “purchasing” is to acquire 110% coverage for your system

    1. If you are planning to have 50 Apple devices, acquire 55 licenses

    2. Note that we assume that this VPP account is linked to your Jamf Now system

Create a Device Blueprint

  1. Log in to Jamf Now and select Blueprints from the options on the left, then select Add New Blueprint

  1. Name and Save your Blueprint

  1. Add the Carousel Cloud Player App to the Blueprint, set the device in Single App Mode, and select Carousel Cloud Player as the app. This will limit the screen to only showing Carousel Cloud unless AirPlay (if allowed) overrides it.

  1. Now you can add the desired devices (Apple TV or iPad) to your Blueprint

  1. After being added, the devices will sync their configuration and display the Carousel Cloud Player app

Activation in Carousel Cloud

  1. After the Carousel Cloud Player app has been installed and the app is opened for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the player activation code (as shown below) in the Carousel Cloud web interface to allow the Apple TV to activate and communicate with your Carousel Cloud system

    1. To complete player activation, you can follow the steps under the heading Player Activation in this Carousel Cloud article

  2. Once the Apple TV is activated in Carousel Cloud, the selected Apple TV will begin to display your default cloud channel or the channel you specify during the activation process
